House Of Consignment Episode 6 – Corri McFadden Talks Christian Siriano And Fanny Packs

Each week during the season on House of Consignment, we’ll be talking to eDrop-Off owner and woman whose wardrobe we covet, Corri McFadden, about her take on every episode. This week, Corri had a very special dress fitting with designer Christian Siriano, and cleaned out the closet of her newly-divorced client, Renee, and delivered the verdict on whether or not fanny packs are ever okay.

This week you were fitted for a gown made by Christian Siriano, how was that experience?

My favorite part of Fashion Week was going to Christian Siriano’s studio and doing my fitting with him, it was amazing. He is the best, we’re actually friends, we met here in Chicago when he was doing an event at Columbia College and we hit it off. I think he’s also such a good example of another person who’s leveraged reality TV and turned it into real business. He’s not just the designer from Project Runway anymore, he’s a full-blown designer in the industry.

This is also the first episode where your boyfriend Spiro appears, how was it bringing him in to the show?

I’m proud of my boyfriend and the relationship we have, so it wasn’t weird, I think it’s a really good example to girls out there that in order to be really successful and happy, you need to have a really supportive partner. He is so wonderful and he brings out a different side of me and I let my guard down more with him. He’s simply amazing.

Did you mention that you two are engaged?

Not yet…my ring is in the works though. I’m one of those people [Laughs]. My friends Faraone Mennella are designing the rings for me and it’s a project. When I’m getting it, I’m not sure, but I’m sure it’ll be off-camera.

This week was also Renee’s closet cleanout.

Love her. Hers was an emotional cleanout. She was looking to reinvent her wardrobe after her divorce, and when we got there, she was so ready to go. She was dressed to project how she wants to be perceived now, and she just needed some confidence. It;s hard to get out after being married for twenty years and really get in that new mindset, I can’t even imagine how difficult that is. When we got there, I told her she looked great, and I said that because she really did look great, and immediately you could see a spark in her, she felt good, and she was really emotional. She had the dress that she wore on her first date with her ex-husband hanging in her closet and she was looking at that every day when she was getting ready, and she had to let those pieces go. She is a new person today. It was really awesome.

Can we just discuss fanny packs though for a second? Is it ever okay to keep a fanny pack?

When you go to Six Flags, absolutely. I love Six Flags, by the way. But no, they’re never cute. Watch, there’s going to be a huge fanny pack trend coming and everyone will be like “Corri doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
